Dear all
I have a really big problem , I wonder if anyone could help me?
I am performing safety tests according to clasue 4.3.8 (battery tests)
of EN 60950-1, the standard says:

-Reverse charging of a battery:
The battery is reverse charged while briefly subjected to the
simulation of any single component failure that is likely to occur in
the charging circuit and that would result in reverse charging of the
battery. To minimize testing time, the failure is chosen that causes
the highest reverse charging current. The battery is then reverse
charged for a single period of 7 hours with that simulated failure in
place.

I do not know which failure in the circuit results reverse charging.
Please help me as soon as possible.

Hello Agustos,

I assume this question relates to finished products as sold to
costumers (not related to production of the product).

When it is not possible to reverse insert batteries or reverse connect
the charger, reverse charging test under 4.3.8 will not be carried out
(as this is a condition that cannot occur in that case). See NOTE 4.

A single failure in a device or charger will unlikely result in
reverse charging, as it needs two faults to reverse connect a battery
due to a defect in the device or charger.

When it is foreseeable that a battery is inserted in reverse (abnormal
operation), or a charger is connected in reverse, the 7 hour test will
be carried out with a single failure in the charging circuit. If this
may happen in your case, no one of the four points mentioned (flame,
explosion, leakage, hot substances, etc) may occur. It is accepted
that the battery or battery charger is destroyed, as long as no
dangerous situation occurs.
